Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castiglioni, 2014 Chianti (DOCG)

Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castiglioni, 2014 Chianti (DOCG), $12.99-$15.99, 88 points, poured an unusually deep Burgundy red color with an obligatory wine ring and considerable draping.
Soft floral aroma was perfectly balanced with shy black cherry and teased wild red raspberry.
Medium-bodied with bright acidity and a moderate layer of tannins carried a nice balance of red raspberry and blueberry flavors accented by oak and truffle notes.
Finished quite well on red pepper spice and a spot-on 13% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my spaghetti in a rich Italian Marinara sauce.

Banfi 2014 Chianti Classico (DOCG)

Banfi 2014 Chianti Classico (DOCG), $11.04-$14.99, 87 points, was a bright red wine color with a clear wine ring.
Aromatic red fruit nose accented with a hint of cedar was pretty straight-forward.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and thin tight tannins managed red fruit, blueberry, and black tea flavors.
Finished a bit astringent on developing tannins, an easy 12.5% alcohol, and cherry flavors.
Paired well with my Chicken Cacciatore.

Honig Napa Valley Bartolucci Vineyard 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

Honig Napa Valley Bartolucci Vineyard 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, $67.59-$84.49, 94 points, poured broadly black trailing deep purple/red at the clear wine ring and heavily draped glass bowl.
Profuse and intense aromas of Crème de cassis, cedar, and plum were almost overwhelmingly good.
The full body embraced the now rich lush tannins supported by good acidity and a bounty of black currant, clove, cedar, black olives, and plum flavors.
Finished long on blackberry liqueur, warm spices, a hint of pomegranate, and a spot-on 14.9% alcohol.
Big and bold 100% single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
Paired perfectly with my spinach, potatoes, and beef Goulash.

Fattoria Le Pupille Elisabetta Geppetti 'Poggio Valente', Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG (Italy)

Fattoria Le Pupille Elisabetta Geppetti 'Poggio Valente', Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG (Italy), $31.44-$36.99, 93 points, poured a slightly cloudy ruby red 'swirl' with a clear wine ring and sticky glass sheeting.
Smells of pomegranate, red raspberry, plum, dusty earth, dried herbs, and a soft floral vibe were excellent.
Full-bodied with mouthwatering acidity and developing firm grainy tannins carried rich flower flavors, seamless red fruit flavors, hints of plum, subtle hints of bay leaf, and black tea late on the tongue.
Finished long on the trailing palate, bourbon notes, hot spices, and a potent 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my Mexican cuisine.
Varietals were 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot.
