Clos Du val Napa Valley 2016 Sauvignon Blanc, $14.99-$30.99, 92 points, was almost water clear with brass and green highlights.
The soft floral nose with a hint of kiwi matched well with this non-Cali like Sauvignon Blanc, but was sophisticated, deliciously delicate, and not unlike a great supple Viognier; other delicate flavors of lime and lemongrass added the needed complexity.
Finished long on the fading palate, ginger, and a well-integrated 14% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my North Atlantic Sea scallops and baked Mediterranean sea-salt crackers dipped in fig preserves.

Okay, I just have to try this.
ReplyDeleteWhy such a big range in price?
First time I see this offering.
DeleteMust have been what is called a 'power buy' by the State stores.
"Power buy," good prices because they buy a ton of it?
ReplyDeleteVG: I'm guessing yes!
