David Girard El Dorado 2009 Syrah, $10.19-$26.99, 91 points, appeared core opaque trending a healthy purple/red toward the clear rim and leggy glass wall.
A toasty boysenberry with hints of coffee on the nose were good.
Near full bodied with fair acidity, smooth, layered easy tannin, and flavors that matched the nose with blueberry and cola notes.
Finished well on the trailing palate, plum, violets, just hint of white pepper, and a well integrated 14.3% alcohol.
I tend to think this Syrah has peaked; so buy to drink now.
Another amazing value red wine that every dyed-in-the-wool Merlot lover might want to taste!
