Marchesi de' Frescobaldi - Castello di Pomino 2012 Chardonnay, $16.99-$19.99, 90 points, poured a light golden color with just the faintest lime-green hue.
The aroma was subtle apple and tangerine, while the near medium body delicately carried fair-plus acidity with flavor hints of lemon and cool-wet stony minerals.
Finished as it began, gently with a touch of ginger and a well integrated 12.5% alcohol.
Pomino Chardonnay is nothing like a Cali Chardonnay, but whispers what most Cali's shout, and just might take some time adjusting to.
