Sileni Marlborough 2013 Sauvignon Blanc, $10.99-$12.99, 91 points, appeared a very light brass color trending almost water clear toward the glass wall.
Bright aromas of white grapefruit, lemon grass, and orange blossoms were lovely.
The light crisp body of good acidity and medium Sauvignon Blanc typical texture carried all the good flavor notes of Gooseberries (the aroma notes), and carried those into a long finish with a touch of black pepper and ginger with a hint of the 12.5% alcohol.
This is why Sauvignon Blanc is the Premiere wine of New Zealand.

Interesting that the producers in NZ prefer soft-shouldered bottles for their SBs.
ReplyDeleteVG: I'll have to ask about that!
ReplyDeleteI have recently found their "2014" SB, but I think this must be a misprint?
ReplyDeleteFrom Sileni: Sileni Estates Yes that is correct. We are often one of the first to bottle current vintage as we sell through very well. And Mlb sauvy is best enjoyed young.
