Domaine Fond Croze Côtes-du-Rhône Village "Les Vieux Ceps de Raymond" 2014 Carignan Red Wine

Domaine Fond Croze Côtes-du-Rhône Village "Les Vieux Ceps de Raymond" 2014 Carignan Red Wine, $11.89-$27.99, 88 points, poured core black with spotty hints of purple reds until the broad clear wine ring and dense legs.
The nose was rather shut down, but a faint cedar potpourri peeked-out from the swishing and swirling.
The smooth near full body with good acidity and a mellow subterranean aquifer of tannins managed a supple array of nuanced black fruit flavors with oaky truffles.
Finished a bit chalky with a hint of plum, ripe blackberry, and a reasonable 14% alcohol.
Paired okay with my Mexican cuisine.
This Côtes-du-Rhône Village red wine was 100% Carignan, which is often used as a blending grape, and though known for red fruit flavors, I did not find that the case here.
