Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut NV Sparkling Wine, $9.00-$18.99, 90 points, poured with an explosive fizzy head of foam and continuous robust medium-sized bubbly activity; color was a very light pale brass.
Aromas were apple with a hint of vanilla and wood.
Along with the super effervescence, light-plus body, and bright acidity the rich ale-like flavors masked more subtle notes.
Finished long on a more nuanced vanilla, melon rind, wood, and apple flavors.
Alcohol was 12.5%.
The back label claims a 'black cherry' flavor, but I couldn't sense it.
Varietals were Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Paired perfectly with our traditional Chinese cuisine.
