Château Ducru-Beaucaillou Grand Cru Classé Saint-Julien 2009 Bordeaux Red Wine (Cabernet Sauvignon), $249.99-$370.99, 97 points, poured core black grading a crystalline purple/red toward the clear wine ring and glass bowl draped in dense tears.
The cedar potpourri bouquet with red fruit, blackberry, and flowers was outstanding.
This near-full-bodied Bordeaux was distinctively up-front subtle before approaching the turbocharged silk and spice never-ending finish, but in-between, layers of bright acidity and supportive tannins flourished with flavors of leathery blackberry liqueur, violets, mulling spices, and crème de cassis with a spot-on 13.5% alcohol.
Varietals are 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot.
