La Lecciaia 2010 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva (DOCG)

La Lecciaia 2010 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva (DOCG), $38.24-$47.99, 93 points, poured a deep sienna color brightening to a copper/red at the clear wine ring and the clinging curtain of heavy tears.
Aromatic soft oak nose was nuanced with roses and black tea.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and a perfect plank of tannins presented the Sangiovese grape in a display of straight-forward and delicious blending of oak-imbued cherry fruit fired-up into a potent 14.5% alcohol inspirited spiciness.
Finished very long on the trailing palate, black tea, and a hint of eucalyptus.

  1. La Lecciaia 2010 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva (DOCG) proves once again, at least to me, that Brunello is the King of the Sangiovese grape, and those that equate Brunello wines with every day Chianti, and I see it all the time, are sadly mistaken.
I know wine has a subjective element, but it's not always reasonable, there is a measure of objectivity to greatness in wine!
    Salute!

  2. Okay, be honest with me, do you think the 'Reserva' on the label influenced your score a little?
