William Hill North Coast 2016 Chardonnay, $11.69-$12.99, 88 points, shown a medium coppery gold color.
Though the aromas were oaky, they were fairly subtle, and with a bit of background apple smells, quite good.
Being slightly more than a medium-bodied Chardonnay with a rather clean and sleek mouth, I found this more than I like oaked wine to be quite appealing; apples, cantaloupe, a touch of Dragon fruit, white pepper, and a hint of juniper with an appropriate 13.8% alcohol made this less than $12 Chardonnay a big recommendation.
Paired well with my broiled Icelandic captain's cod.
