Bonterra Mendocino County 2009 Syrah, $13.49-$18.49, 87 points, begins as a deep ruby red trending purple in color with a moderately leggy clear glass rim.
A faltering aroma relies on some cedar notes with plum.
A medium-plus body, rich with acids and moderate tannin, give adequate backbone in supporting this Syrah.
Coffee, plum, and red cherry flavor notes are accentuated and good, but remain rather one dimensional.
Finishes on lingering coffee and plum notes with some heat (14.1% alcohol), and spiciness.
Bought at the Hannaford's Super Market in Londonderry, NH.
