Jade Mountain Evangelho Vineyard Contra Costa County 2005 Mourvèdre

Jade Mountain Evangelho Vineyard Contra Costa County 2005 Mourvèdre (pronounced), $13.40-$24.99, 88 points, appears ruby toward brick red with a thin clear leggy rim.
Only faint notes of tobacco and coffee remain on the nose, though a hint of wet cardboard dissipated quickly.
Licorice, coffee, flowers, plum, and still tight tannin on the end palate still grace this medium-plus bodied red wine and reveal life yet abundant and quite good. Though the acidity was mild, it was just enough to pair with a barbecue.
The trailing palate carried the finish with some heat (14.5% alcohol) and a good blast of red pepper.
I bought this wine almost three years ago as a close-out at the Merrimack Shaw's Supermarket.
