Château Grand Corbin-Despagne St. Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2010 Red Bordeaux, $44.82-$48.99, 92+ points, appears inky-black at the core and trends purple/red toward the leggy clear glass wall.
The powerful smells of black cherry, clove, cedar with flowers, and a noticeable alcohol (14.5%), are rich and earthy.
With lively black fruit, lip-smacking acidity, palpable and nicely layered tannin which are harmoniously blended in a near full body with plum and savory notes, a long finish of white pepper and cayenne, culminate to makes for an excellent red wine.
Upon opening, this St. Émilion was just a bit too intense, but mellowed beautifully with some air.
