Cline Sonoma County 2009 Syrah, $11.99-$13.99, 83 points, begins with a not so clear ruby red trending an off purple color with a thin clear rim.
A "barnyard" nose yields to a bit of petrol and red grape.
The medium body carries fair acidity with mid tannin onto the palate with a hint of mint up front and a mirror image of the "aromatic" profile.
Though the texture is okay, and the finish has a touch of spice, they are not enough to save this wine.

ReplyDeleteNot everything can be great. You're just being honest.
ReplyDeleteVinogirl, I'm sure somewhere in the this blog I've mentioned that I wouldn't drink wines that tastes worse than plain grape juice, and sadly this one comes close to that threshold; alcohol is not why I drink wine, and I think that is an important point. I can't remember the movie off hand, but the actor in it says I don't drink wine, it takes too long to get drunk; I never cared for stupor.
