Château D'Aurilhac Grand Vin Haut-Médoc 2010 Red Bordeaux

Château D'Aurilhac Grand Vin Haut-Médoc 2010 Red Bordeaux, $21.59-$23.99, 91 points, pours into the glass with the by now familiar color of most of the 2010 Bordeaux red wines I've looked at (I'm uncertain as to the notion of a Bordeaux vintage color or not), and the Château D' Aurilhac Grand Vin Haut-Médoc is no exception, though the very dark ruby red trending purple is not opaque, it is quite dense, excepting the obligatory transparent rim.
Black licorice, earthy black cherry, and mint, coalesce beautifully on the nose.
Having a smooth medium-plus body with bright acidity and fine-grained full-bore tannin gives more than ample life to the rich black fruit (especially currant), tangy pomegranate, violets, and crushed dried herbs that trail into a subtle finish of spice and a touch of heat (14% alcohol).
Varietals are 49% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Petit Verdot, and 2.5% Cabernet Franc.
