Castello Banfi Cum Laude Toscana 2013 Red Wine (IGT),

Castello Banfi Cum Laude Toscana 2013 Red Wine (IGT), $32.99-$35.99, 92 points, poured to an opaque core of ruby red grading much brighter at the clear rim and leggy glass bowl.
Aromatic ripe blackberries, loam, cocoa, and a floral vibe were excellent.
The sleek full body showed good acidity and a lush round underlayment of supportive tannins.
Fabulous flavors reflective of the aromas with a periphery of Damson plum transitioned from an early palate smooth delivery to a more texturally tight offering.
Finished long on the trailing palate, Red raspberry, an easy spiciness, and a well-balanced 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our lamb-kabobs.
Varietals were 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 25% Sangiovese, and 15% Syrah.

  1. Great little collection of Italian reds. Once again, which I had the availability of wines that you do.

    1. VG: First time I see this Banfi, a winery I need to someday include in my list of 'go to wineries'! It would be the first non-domestic winey in that list.
      Two Hands is another!

  2. I meant 'wish'.
Yes, I'd probably agree that the Banfi's I have had in the past (there haven't been many, just a few) have not been disappointing and very decently made.
