Barboursville Vineyards (Virginia) 2013 Cabernet Franc Reserve, $20.39-$23.99, 89 points, poured a deep purple/red grading a more light red toward the broad clear rim and thin drapes on the bowl.
Aromatically soft with subtle hints of red raspberry, coffee, and black grapes which were just okay.
Medium-bodied with fair-plus acidity and a less than firm underlayment of tannin managed good fruit flavors of mulberry, blueberry, and red raspberry.
Finished long on red fruit, spicy pepper, iron, and a modest 13% alcohol.
A lovely red table wine, and paired perfectly with our sausage/peperoni pizza.

What an interesting wine. Love CF, so would love to try this.
ReplyDeleteVG: Do you have a favorite?
DeleteUsed to, but isn't produced anymore. Now, Paradigm, Pride, Viader. Sequoia Grove also produce a nice one.
ReplyDeleteVG: Haven't seen any of these, but if I do . . .
