Château Pontet Canet Grand Cru Classé En 1855 Pauillac 2011 Bordeaux Red Wine

Château Pontet Canet Grand Cru Classé En 1855 Pauillac 2011 Bordeaux Red Wine,
$118.99-$152.99, 95 points, poured core black grading a deep red garnet with a broad clearing rim and substantial legs.
Early aromas of black currant were rich, ripe, dominant, and fragrant, but emerging cedar, sandalwood, and anise were excellent as the wine breathed and evolved.
Full-bodied with good acidity and supportive unobtrusive tannins delivered a panoply of black and red fruit with enlivened flavors evoked from the bouquet.
Finished on an accelerating warm pepper spiciness, hints of plum, fig, pomegranate, and iron.
The 13.5% alcohol was totally appropriate to both the early silky palate and the more edgy spicy finish.
Varietals were 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.
Paired perfectly with my spiced-rubbed rare Angus rib eye steak.
