Château Grand Renom, Antoine Moueix, Grand Vin 2014 White Bordeaux Wine, $13.49-$14.99, 87 points, poured a medium glossy gold color with a green wash.
Smells were fresh hay, grass, and a hint of lime.
Light-bodied with good acidity, but round soft-textured, managed to deliver the aromas pleasantly onto and throughout the palate.
Finished well on citrus and ginger notes, a bit of wood and an easy 12.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my New England clam chowder.

I have been wanting to dive into Bordeaux whites for a while now...you have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteVG: I was surprised how well this one endured four years!
DeleteI’m sure the Semillon adds structure, but I suspect it’s age-worthiness has more to do with terroir.
ReplyDeleteVG: Good points, but we could add the winemaker's technique. Your thoughts please on similar terroir in California?
DeleteI really don't think there is anything comparable. Sonoma coast, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteVG: Wow, that's a heavy-duty comment!
