Wow!
October is Merlot month,
and I've not had a straight Merlot all month,
but with this generous Browne Family Vineyards Merlot, I've more than rectified my negligence.
Browne Family Vineyard Columbia Valley 2013 Merlot, $18.69-$39.99, 90 points, poured an opaque ruby red shading purple toward the transparent meniscus and heavily stained-tear laden bowl.
The herbaceous aroma was nicely nuanced with juniper.
Full-bodied with fair-plus acidity and softly supportive tannins accented the lush mouth-feel, and carried generous flavors of cola, milk chocolate, blackberry, and blueberry.
Finished well on the fading palate, red licorice, and a hot pepper spice turbo-charged with a 14.2% warm alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our ordinary cheese burgers.
