Domaine Virginie Thunevin 2008 Grand Vin De Bordeaux Red Wine, $16.99, 90 points, poured a deep purple/red grading a coppery red toward the clear wine ring and quickly dripping tears.
Aromatic cinnamon, clove, juniper, with a lovely hint of Bordeaux lily were outstanding.
Medium-plus body showed good acidity and an underlayment of comfortable tannins.
Flavors of anise, cinnamon, clove, hints of tobacco, and red raspberry were delicious.
Finished dry and long on black tea, red cherry, and a spot-on 13% alcohol.
Paired fine with our burgers.

Had to look up "Bordeaux lily" - lily of the valley I am familiar with.
ReplyDeleteStumbled on these this week and my olfactory mind was totally blown by its lovely rendition of leather with soft perfumed undertones. Just amazing.
