Louis Jadot Chablis Fourchaume Premier Cru 2015 Chablis, $33.14-$38.99, 90 points, poured a medium gold color with a yellow sheen.
Aromas of oak notes presenting a dominating vanilla, and complemented with Chardonnay-specific grape were followed by developing whiffs of honey and flowers.
Medium-bodied with good acidity carried the reflected aromas throughout the palate.
Finished long on wet stones, white pepper, slightly chalky kiwi, and a spot-on 13% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my sautéed Atlantic sea scallops in a cheddar cheese and broccoli sauce.
The Fourchaume Premier Cru Chablis hinted at its cousins in California, but was restrained, flinty, lighter, and a tad more complex than most Cali Chardonnays I've tasted, even though the oak was quite noticeable.
