Darioush Napa Valley 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon





Darioush Napa Valley 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, $83.49-$95.99, 94 points, poured black throughout save for the purple/red glass edge, broad clear wine ring, and fat legs.
Aromatic violets, sandalwood, crème de cassis, soft coffee and blackberry notes made for a traditionally excellent bouquet.
Full-bodied with good acidity and grainy supportive tannins carried the aromas onto the palate.
Finished long, tannic, enormously spicy, with crème de cassis and a bold 14.8% alcohol.
I drank this delicious Darioush side-by-side with the Souverain North Coast 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, and I affirmed that we usually get what we pay for, not necessarily what the wine magazines have to say; in-vino-veritas.

Darioush of Napa Valley, why it's a "go to" winery.

Souverain (Chateau) North Coast 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon






Souverain (Chateau) North Coast 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, $9.74-$11.99, 88 points, poured core black grading purple/red toward the broad clear wine ring and heavily draped glass bowl.
Aromatic blueberries and plums with hints of juniper and candy cane were good.
Full-bodied with good acidity and tight tiny tannins managed a slightly green rendition of the bouquet reflective flavors.
Finished long on the trailing palate, licorice, spice, eucalyptus, and a modest 13.9% Alcohol.

Jorge Ordonez And Co. "Bontani" Old Vines 2015 Muscate (Sierras de Malaga, Spain), $14.99-$17.99, 89 points, was a pale brass color grading clear at the glass bowl.
Smells of orange peel and pome blossoms were good.
Light-bodied with fair-plus acidity carried an intense spiced orange with a hint of lemon oil in a green melon matrix.
Finished quite warm on the 14% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my stuffed Atlantic white fish.

Martin Ray Russian River 2015 Chardonnay







Martin Ray Russian River 2015 Chardonnay, $14.44-$18.99, 90 points, was a bright glossy gold color.
Redolent early morning fresh water smell was accented with hints of cantaloupe, citrus, and apple.
Medium-bodied with good acidity delivered a clean palate of fruit, stone, and ginger flavors which carried deep into the fair finish.
Oak notes were subtle, and alcohol was a modest 13.8%.
Paired well with our pre-Thanksgiving day cuisine.
